Bio of Maya Chupkov

Maya Chupkov is an accomplished journalist, policy expert, and stuttering advocate. With over a decade of experience in the field, Maya is currently the Media & Democracy Program Manager at Common Cause, where she works to promote media accountability and transparency. Before this role, Maya served as the Director of Strategic Communications and Outreach at the California Public Utilities Commission, where she oversaw the agency's public relations and outreach efforts.

 

In addition to her professional work, Maya is also a passionate advocate for the stuttering community. She is the creator, host, and producer of the Proud Stutter podcast, where she shares her personal experiences with stuttering and interviews others who have overcome this communication challenge. Through her podcast and advocacy work, Maya is working to raise awareness about stuttering and promote a more inclusive society.
