Michael Schwager

Michael Schwager is the Director General of IP Australia since September 2018. IP Australia is the government agency responsible for administering intellectual property rights in Australia, including patents, trademarks, and designs. As the head of IP Australia, Schwager's role is to oversee the management and operation of the Australian intellectual property system, with a focus on driving innovation and building prosperity for the country.

Before joining IP Australia, Schwager served as the Chief Operating Officer (a/g) of CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, for four months in 2018. He has also held senior executive roles in other Australian government agencies, including the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, and the Department of Health.

Schwager is known for his commitment to promoting innovation and fostering an environment that encourages creativity and entrepreneurship.
