Bio of Simon French

Simon French is a highly experienced rail safety professional who currently serves as the Chief Inspector of Rail Accidents at the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) in the UK. He has held this position since July 2004, and has since led many investigations into rail accidents and incidents in the country.

As Chief Inspector, French is responsible for overseeing the RAIB's work in investigating rail accidents and incidents across the UK. This involves leading teams of investigators, gathering evidence, analyzing data, and producing reports that identify the causes of accidents and recommend measures to prevent them from happening again.

Before to joining the RAIB, French worked as a railway operations manager and safety manager. He also served as a member of the Safety and Standards Committee of the International Union of Railways.

With his extensive experience and expertise in rail safety, French is a highly respected figure in the industry and has made significant contributions to improving rail safety in the UK.
