345. When Grief Shows Up Uninvited: Loss, Healing and Motherhood, a Roundtable with Katie Huey and Abby Waychoff

345. When Grief Shows Up Uninvited: Loss, Healing and Motherhood, a Roundtable with Katie Huey and Abby Waychoff

Chances are, you know what it feels like to carry the heaviness of grief. You know that grief is messy and non-linear, with no way around it. Yet in the midst of your colorless experience, the world around you is buzzing, bright and loud and completely ignorant of the hole inside you.

Today’s roundtable guests are two women who understand what it means to hold space for the hard stuff, and they have made it their life’s work to help people feel seen, supported, and less alone. They remind us that our grief matters, our struggle is real, and how important it is to find people to sit with you in it.

Katie Huey is a certified grief educator and coach who knows personally what grief can do to a life. She has a beautiful way to help people find words when they don’t know what to say, and reminds us that grief doesn’t have to be so isolating.

Abby Waychoff is an occupational therapist, yoga instructor, and the heart behind Mother Lover. She walks alongside women through pregnancy and postpartum, and she also creates space for those in the midst of grief.

344. Burnout, Heartbreak, and What Happens When the Armor Falls: The Moment(s) I Finally Fell Apart

344. Burnout, Heartbreak, and What Happens When the Armor Falls: The Moment(s) I Finally Fell Apart

Today I’m opening up about the struggles I’ve faced recently and how they’ve forced me to pause and take much needed time for myself. I’ve been very quiet about it until now, and if I’m honest, rather hollow feeling, trying to find my footing. Sometimes we have so much noise in our own heads that we can’t make sense of the day to day, until something breaks and we are forced to slow down. I share my own thoughts about this journey in the hopes that others will realize they are not alone, and that taking time off to heal is not a sign of weakness, but of strength.

343. Behind the Scenes and Mic: Building Community and Connection

Today’s episode goes behind the scenes with my roundtable cohost, Ashley Blackington, host of the And/Both podcast. Even though we live on opposite sides of the country and have never met in person, Ashley and I can dive into honest conversations and share truths that aren’t often talked about. We chat about our own podcasts, motherhood, where we’re heading next, and what’s fueling these episodes. We believe that community, whether virtual or in-person, truly matters, and we hope to share that community with you, the listener, as well.

342. 6 Years of Lessons: Why Courage (not Perfection) Matters in Parenting + Life

342. 6 Years of Lessons: Why Courage (not Perfection) Matters in Parenting + Life

Six years ago, I started recording this podcast in a cramped unused shower with my laptop propped on pillows in front of me—and I never imagined back then that PG-ish would still be here today. Despite the roller coaster ride of the last six years, I’m still here because of the real-life human connections the podcast has brought to my life, and the certainty that learning and growing will always matter.

Today I talk about why I started PG-ish and what I’ve learned over the last six years of the podcast, as well as how I’ve evolved over the last ten years of major life changes. Learning and growing alongside you and your kiddos has been such a joy and journey, and I look forward to continuing the ride with you!

340. The True Cost of Screen Time (and what to do about It), featuring Dino Ambrosi

340. The True Cost of Screen Time (and what to do about It), featuring Dino Ambrosi

We all know that with the rise of technology, our kids are growing up in a vastly different world than we did. Regardless of your house rules on phones and screen time, it’s likely that every kid will be exposed to social media in some way, which has a worrisome amount of power over their view of themselves and the world.

Dino Ambrosi, founder of Project Reboot, is on a mission to help the next generation build a better relationship with technology, in order to reclaim time and regain focus. He explains exactly how much of our precious lives are being traded away for screen time. While it’s not necessarily realistic to ban screens altogether (for ourselves or our kids), it is crucial that we teach our kids how to use technology with intention, because how we spend our time shapes who we become.
