The 4 Marketing Mistakes That Are Costing You Clients and Cash

The 4 Marketing Mistakes That Are Costing You Clients and Cash

Are you feeling like you're stuck on a marketing treadmill, exerting effort but seemingly going nowhere? Whether you're a seasoned freelancer or just getting started in the freelance world, understanding the mistakes in your marketing strategy is crucial to landing more clients. This week, we are unpacking the most common mistakes freelancers often make, and providing actionable steps to help you land more clients with ease.

Topics Covered In This Episode:

  1. Acknowledge and identify the marketing mistakes preventing you from landing clients and generating cash.
  2. Ensure you're marketing on the right platform where your ideal clients are active, rather than where you personally prefer to hang out.
  3. Keep track of your outreach numbers as they help take the emotion out of business and show you if your marketing efforts are sufficient.
  4. Active vs. Passive Marketing: Focus 80% of your marketing efforts on active marketing – direct outreach and engagement, rather than passive marketing like posting content and waiting for responses.
  5. Find ways to stand out in the crowded market by being proactive and adding value, such as using video introductions in response to job opportunities.
  6. Use strategies like risk reversal to make yourself more appealing and to differentiate in a saturated market.
  7. Continue to fix identified mistakes to improve your marketing effectiveness, which will help you serve your clients better and ultimately allow business to thrive.

Inside My Calendar: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at My Weekly Workflow

Inside My Calendar: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at My Weekly Workflow

Running a thriving $1,000,000-a-year business in less than 20 hours a week might seem like an impossible challenge. Throw in homeschooling two children and you have a modern conundrum most would shy away from. Yet, I find myself juggling these diverse roles daily. This week, we are discussing the strategies I use in my business to maintain an effective and intentional schedule that prioritizes time over money.

Topics Covered In This Episode:

  1. The value of time over money and the importance of being intentional with how time is spent.
  2. My current schedule accommodates my roles as a homeschooling mom and business owner, highlighting the need for schedule adaptability as life changes.
  3. Mastering your calendar can lead to more freedom, flexibility, and less stress, and requires learning to say "no" to unnecessary commitments.
  4. Why I don’t use time blocking in my schedule, but I encourage batching days and finding a "magic time" for peak productivity, which for me is between 9:30 AM and 12 PM.
  5. The importance of being clear on goals and priorities helps manage schedule commitments effectively.
  6. Establishing systems, like creating social media content, can streamline processes and free up time.
  7. Join support through our programs, such as "Conversions for Clients" and "Strategist Society," to help optimize your schedule and gain more time for personal time.

Fast-Track Your Clients: How to Get Quick Decisions Without High Pressure

Fast-Track Your Clients: How to Get Quick Decisions Without High Pressure

In the world of freelance service providers, it's a common scenario: you have a fantastic discovery call with a potential client, only to hear them say, "I need to think about it." Not knowing how to get people to make decisions quickly, without high-pressure tactics, can be a challenge. Today we explore a method that ensures timely decisions and higher conversion rates, all while preserving the client’s comfort.

Topics Covered In This Episode:

  1. Decision Fatigue: Understand that decision fatigue is real and affects your clients, making it harder for them to make quick decisions.
  2. Fast Action Bonus: Implement a 48 to 72-hour signing bonus to motivate clients to make quicker decisions without feeling pressured.
  3. Proposal Deadlines: Always include a deadline (e.g., 7 days) on your proposals to create a sense of urgency, but also protect your pricing.
  4. Sales Mindset: Utilize a sales mindset to help clients make quicker decisions by providing incentives like fast action bonuses.
  5. Follow-Up Strategy: Use the fast action bonus as a reason to follow up with potential clients, making follow-up feel natural rather than bothersome.
  6. Simplicity in Bonuses: Offer bonuses that are easy to implement and don't add extra work for you (e.g., ad audits or graphic templates you already use).
  7. Client Interaction: Offer the fast action bonus only to clients who say they need more time, ensuring it’s an extra incentive rather than a default offering.
